# The Confident Learner

> A free online book for engineering students and freshers in India: the web development, AI and business-domain fundamentals that will still matter in ten years.

*Tech and Domain Fundamentals for the AI Era*, by Dharanova Pioneer. 23 chapters. Web page: https://elephantbamboo.com/the-confident-learner

The Confident Learner is for engineering students and freshers in India who are trying to figure out what to actually learn, when everything seems to be changing at once. It is not a course. It is not a roadmap. It is the honest explanation of the things that will still matter in ten years, told through people who are learning them for the first time.

Part A covers the tech fundamentals: the machine and the OS, tools, networks, the web, data, APIs, identity, scale, observability, shipping, how teams work, AI and LLMs, and the soft skills. Part B covers how to build real domain expertise, with worked examples from Indian fintech, healthcare, and commerce and logistics. Every chapter ends with three things: one to build, one to read, and one question to ask someone older than you.

The book is entirely free. Chapters 1–3, the Prologue and the Appendix can be read without signing in; Chapters 4–23 need a Google sign-in, which only protects the site from automated bots and content scraping.
